G - BROOME Bank

Broome Head works entry is not practical these days so we are paying for an entry and parking. Enter off the New Bypass by taking one turning on your right, BEFORE THE HEADWORK'S if coming from Bungay. As you head up from the chicken round about the green fencing starts on your left side then 200yard the crash barrier starts go slow and you will see the gate entrance on your right.

Go in and open this gate AND the one 20 yards further on. Enter in and close both behind you please. The path to the Marshes then goes 200 yards and the Car Park is at the end on the right, after you have gone through the old Iron Gate. Our water runs down stream and upstream. It leaves you with the last 150 yards to walk across the Marsh. It can be soggy and damp underfoot as the dry dyke bed 20 yards away is crossed, so wellies are best taken.

The River here looks absolutely fantastic. It is excitingly wide – about  25yards in places - and has tempting deeper bends. It is slow and deep with 8’ the norm. Almost unfished, huge bream rove here alongside double figure pike and astonishing Tench. Roach stocks are pretty good too with Chub in places to 5 lbs
