BUNGAY COMMON & COMMON PONDAND THE NEW LAY-BY PIT
Bungay common is vast so where do you begin. Well if you wish to fish the river I would suggest parking in the club pit car park and walking around it to your right and past the cottage down to the river over the small bridge. From here you can walk right the way round on the Suffolk bank. See the second map below for detail you can also see the common pond below the club pit. You are eligible for this pond via our affiliation to Suffolk County Amalgamated Angling Association and the common. Important Notice the common pond is booked for the 26th of July for the national fishing week event see junior section for details. Click HERE to see more pictures of the common pond and a map showing you the way. Norfolk bank The Club itself does have the opposite bank the Norfolk bank too, which you can get to by parking in the Lay by on the new Bungay to Earsham road. See first map below.
We have two marshes upstream to the Road and four big fields down to behind the Gravel Pit. These shallow streamier waters, again well weeded can produce a nice evening but your swim for a day will be exhausted after a couple of hours.
Our Newest water the Lay-by Pit (or by-pass pit)

The common, Suffolk bank
Best parking for the River is at the Club Pit car park then take a short walk around the club pit past the cottage and cross the small bridge to the river.
A Good rule of thumb is that the farthest walks across the Common produce the biggest fish. In a pristine undisturbed setting make the walk down to the old Target and opposite woods it will be well worth while. Bream at the bottom end run to 9 lbs. Big Chub in overhanging tree swims
If you go behind the club pit indicated on detailed map you will cross over a small bridge which take you on to the main river see pic
