What it is and why we should have it.

I have set out for you here how the National Accreditation scheme for Junior sections of sports clubs called club mark, is structured and explained here just why it is so important that the Bungay Cherry Tree AC gets it. Please read it so when you come to the AGM you will know what where talking about. This matters a great deal and will boast our status and our placing for funding and support.

The answer is simple..

The main National Governing Bodies that support and fund angling will increasingly only work, fund and support, those clubs that have this National standard for sports clubs called "Club Mark".

The Angling Development Board (ADB) are committed through their contract with Sport England to increase participation by 80,000 over the next 4 years and are involved with a number of projects that will have a positive impact on participation, increasing diversity and improving information.

The development of the coach education scheme is under continuous development and by September this year a new Level One will be launched to provide much needed coaches at entry level.

The ADB can now accredit clubs through the Sport England Clubmark scheme, which will improve the profile and capacity of angling clubs to deliver to schools, Local Authorities, County Sports Partnerships, Local Education Authorities and the youth services.

Our Junior section of the club is vital to the growth and development of our club with out youngster taking up fishing and joining the club we will not have anglers in our club like Chris Kelly twice match man of the year who started of as a junior. If this club obtains the Club Mark we will be in a much stronger position to develop our junior section and be in a much better position to get support and funding for future events. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. And as we move close to getting one governing body for angling this will be a smart move to make putting us as one of the first angling clubs in the area to have this national standard. SO I hope this has enabled you to see how the various angling bodies are connected with club mark and how it will benefit us. More info can be found at
