Carp stocked in the club pit and 1000 tench.

Just under a 1000 carp common ghost mirror and F1s have now been stocked in the club pit soon to be followed by the same amount of tench. It was great to see the little fellows all swim off happily to there new home and by the end of the year these fish will be growing on to the 2lb mark. It is part of our plan to see the club pit back on form with a good head of new fish for the future as well as getting the fence up this year to keep the otters out.

We hope that all club members will help us with the work parties in order to achieve this goal as the club pit has been with the club since its beginning back in 1947. It has seen a lot of changes over the years and its only by club members taking part and helping us make it better that we will have a club pit we can all be proud of. The work at the club pit is far from over we still have much to do but we have made good progress towards the fence going up and we hope that by September it will be finished and our fish stocks will be protected. The Environment agency have advised us from the beginning on the work we need to do and under there guidance we have copsed the trees and continue to remove weed by hand. 1000 baby tench go into there new home these fish will be the ones for future anglers joining the good head of large tench we have in the club pit already.

 As you can see the Otters have not managed to get  all of our carp we estimate that we have a  few 20lb plus  fish and one close to 30lb but I urge all of you who care to get down to the club pit and help us put the fence up so this fish will not become otter victims. We are there every Saturday from 10 to 3 we need your help, the more people who help us the faster the fence goes up and the Otters that have already killed a wonderful 30lb fish will not be able to get to the remaining carp we have left all of which are original stock.
