Award for outstanding service  to the club

Ian Gosling who served the club faithfully for many years as past secretary has been given a wonderful trophy of a hand carved fish from the owners of our Club pit. It was presented to him by Jonathan Cheyne in gratitude for the many years that Ian has served the club and is a testimony to the good relationship the club has had with the Cheyne family throughout the last 61 years.

Lacon Cup finds its way back home.

What were the chances of this trophy coming back to us having been lost for so long? Well amazingly I got an email from a lady in Ipswich who found it at an auction and typed in, "Lacon Cup", in Google to find out more about it. This led her to the small section of text about it on our trophies page and she emailed me to ask if this was the missing Lacon Trophy. And so the long missing Lacon Trophy has found its way back to the club. The Lacon Cup was given to the club by Lacon Brewery back in 1947 because the Cherry Tree Pub sold Lacon Beers. It was fished for on the first Match of the year normally and we are pleased to see that it has come back to its rightful home once again.

The Lacon Cup returns!

The problem with Otters click  HERE PLEASE

Public Enemy Number 1.

Otters are not cuddly and not cute Otters are major predators and they wipe out and kill valuable fish stocks! Those that have released them back to the wild have done so with out any thought for fishery owners and it has resulted in a major catastrophe for fisheries all over the country and many otters being shot or run over, killed illegally due to the high level of frustration felt by those who remain helpless while there fish are killed. Isn't it time to put an end to this! Why should a 30 year old carp not be afforded protection from these animals and why should fishery owners have to fork out thousands of pounds for fencing to stop this slaughter! Its a hot issue read this report to find out more...

Big Pike taken at Fullers stretch

by the 3 old Piker's

Stuarts Pike

The 'three old pikers' tried out the new Flixton stretch of river last week and really enjoyed the day.  I caught the 19 pound beauty in the photograph and lost another (smaller) good fish.  I used float suspended small mackerel as it was difficult to work out the weed situation.  The other two caught a bag of medium/small roach and an eel! Well done Stuart.
