The new fishing season and the AGM for this year will soon be upon us and as we move forward into another year one thing is clear to me as your secretary, we need all our members to become much more involved with there club. I am going to list here for you now the main areas that we need you as members to be involved in and I hope you will respond by offering to help us. My phone number and address is in your club books for you to respond.
First on my list is the Junior section of the club. Last year we boosted our junior section by holding a national fishing week event on the common pond and we will be doing this again in June. It is vital that we encourage the youngster in this area to join our club and have an active Junior section so if you want to help with this now is your chance. Call me or email and I will tell you what you can be doing to help us. Click here to see last years event.
Next on my list is the club pit. We need your help to improve the whole place and there is much to be done this year from wood clearing to weed removal and fencing, repairing the platforms for the disabled and much more if you would like to help call me or email me. Click here for an update
There is much work to be done on our river section especially building fishing platforms if your a bit of a carpenter and can help with this task then we want you to call us and get making some platforms for us.
Bailiffs are another key area where we need more men on the bank checking tickets and keeping an eye on our waters if you are interested then let me know please and I can have a chat with you about it.
There is much to be done and it wont get done if we as individual club members do nothing so if you care about the future of angling and you want to change things for the better then I urge all of you reading this to pick up the phone or send an email and be one of those that make all the difference.
For those that have already contacted me I say thank you for your support, for those of you who have yet to do so I am waiting to here from you.

Rivers on fire!
Well that's what it says in angling times and there can be no doubt the rivers are fishing better now then they have for many years so we hope to build on this fact by having more matches on our river sections this year. We hope to encourage those of you who would like to do more river fishing to get away from the commercials for a change and rekindle your desire for rivers and the many challenges they offer the angler. When was the last time you got out your wagglers or used those stick floats. I have had some great days fishing our river sections last year and this new year is going to even better I'm sure of it. So if you want to join a club that has river fishing at its heart then we are waiting for you! Or you can carry on catching at the commercials if that's what you love but I say do both its more fun that way and you get the best of both worlds.
A big thank you!
I would like to say a big thank you to all of the people we lease or waters from particularly people like Jonathan Drake and his brother Michael who have been so helpful and supportive of the club over the years also Brian Quantrill and the Cheyne family and the other farmers in the area whose friendship and support have been greatly appreciated as we are a small club and with out there good will and support would have found things very difficult at times. It is also good to know that we can rely on the support and help from such people at a time when the growth of commercial fisheries has seen many small clubs fold and the club is very grateful for there support. My hope for the future is that the Bungay Cherry Tree Angling club and it service to the local community and anglers will continue to grow and expand as we are with out doubt one of the leading clubs in the vicinity and long may it continue.
Mark, Club Secretary.
