WAINFORD MALTINGS Connecting the Beccles and Ditchingham roads. You will need the padlock number from the Secretary - which is confidential to all members.
Lots of fish here in the winter. Fish in the vicinity of buildings going no further than 100 yards away at any time. Upstream of Weir 100 yards to fence is good deep water to fish close in and runs on to Fleece Club boundary.
READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE!
Please see the EA map that show's the boundaries and areas of the Maltings that our ours to fish. Please note that the little section by the small bridge is also our water and you must have a ticket or club card to fish it as I see many down there who are not club members.
And as for signs well if people would stop taking them down when I put them up! It might help others to know what waters they can and can not fish.

A good winter fishing area the old malting is the start of a 2 mile stretch of water between Wainford mill and Ellingham mill. Many years ago the old Wherrys would make there way past the mill onto the Staithe at falcon meadows to unload there cargo. The right side of the bridge produces some nice bags of roach in the winter months and the left side of the bridge has some fine perch fishing. Further down past the weir there are some large bream if you are willing to search them out. Please park carefully as the local farmers need access at all times to the adjoining fields.
Up date... The work carried out by the Environment Agency to the weir is now finished but we have been promised some much better fishing platforms that will be going up hopefully before the new season opens. |
