Lets go fishing for Roach with Hemp and Tares.
Catching Roach with hemp and tares is great fun and its easy to do so lets have a look at what you need to get started.
Hemp seed and Tares are seed baits which you can buy from you local pet store. For a session on your local river you will need a pint of cooked hemp seed and half a pint of cooked tares.
To prepare your seed baits you cook them in a pan of boiling water just like you would cook boiled potatoes, bring to the boil then turn the heat down and simmer them for half an hour or so. Hemp seed is cooked when you see the little white kernel inside pop out and tares take much less time to cook so every 5 minutes take one out and squeeze it, if it can be squashed it is done.
When there cooked drain them and but in a freezer bag ready to take fishing.
You use the tares on your hook and the hemp seed is used to feed your swim with using your fishing catapult.
Ok so we have our bait now what else do we need.
Method.
Set your rod and float up first see basic waggler rig on junior section page. When your ready use a plummet to find the depth see stupid mistakes here. and when your depth is right cast out and let the float run through the swim first. If it travels along with out getting caught on any weed you are fine if not just pull your float down a bit so your not dragging the bottom.
Ok now you need to fire in a pinch of hemp seed with your catapult and cast out with your tare on the hook again. Don't be tempted to strike to soon take your time and wait till the float goes right under before you strike. Keep feeding your swim with a pinch of hemp seed every other cast to attract the fish into your swim this is very important.
Give it a go you will be surprised how many better sized roach you will catch using hemp and tares.
