United Fishing clubs resource. What is it and why your club should be on it...
The proposal is to create a one stop shop on line for all fishing clubs that wish to work together in the local area. The purpose of the data base would be to have one place where you can find all the contact details of local clubs that you would like to share angling interests with, this could be to arrange interclub fishing matches to promote your events with each other’s help or to discuss possibilities for sharing waters or match venues. Specifically, to be on this database you would have to do so with the intention of working with the other clubs, it is not just a contact list.
Why do this?
As the governing bodies for angling look to unite and become one voice for angling in the UK it makes good sense for all local clubs to work more closely together and support each other in whatever way we can to insure the survival of the smaller angling clubs in the region. By having all the information we need in one place to contact each other for the purpose of working together we will all be able to promote our clubs and support each other when needed.
For instance, if you wanted some people for a work party to come and help out, or you wanted a match venue at short notice or your club was interested in sharing water with another club or fishing matches with each other. Another good example is our recent success as local clubs Earsham, Bungay, Cherry Tree, Marsh Trail and Aldeby successfully working together to combat the byelaw being enforced on us all by the EA this year and winning our case.
By having a contact list in one place for all of you who want to work together we increase our assets and improve our communication with each other.
The alternative?
We can of course carry on independently of each other trying to gain waters as clubs fold or give them up when we can no longer find help to manage them, or we can struggle to find the resources we need to keep going, but in the end this will not help any of us, we need to work together and it’s high time we did.
Like they say, united we stand divided we fall, so I would ask all who are interested to pass on your details and I can set up this data base and make it available to all local clubs that would like to work together so we can actively support one another.
